Feathers on the wind

One day you look up and your little girl is suddenly a tween. Seemingly over night her face as aged, her body has lost its baby fat and she speaks to you with new found maturity. She tests the boundaries you have set. Your baby bird has found her wings. She isn't quite sure how to fly with them yet. She is trying to find her footing and leave the nest. And you are torn as much as you want her to soar, you never want her to leave. What has happened to my baby, my youngest? In a flap of a wing, she is perched for take off. Soon, too soon, she will fly. She may falter at first but eventually she will wing her way to the stars on her own.
